Education Provider Adviser

 The Education Sector Support Program is seeking suitable and highly motivated candidates for a long-term Education Provider adviser.

This position will be based in Honiara and will support and strengthen the strategic leadership within the Education Services Division mentor division leads to prepare to implement the Education Legislative Framework (ELF) and to support stakeholders (Education Authorities &schools) in this development.

 The Adviser will support the lead division to engage strategically with provincially based staff, school leaders and school board members, to promote understanding and application of the new ELF, and improve efficiencies, effectiveness and accountability of education authorities (EA).

 Reporting to the MEHRD’s Deputy Secretary Education Services, the adviser will provide technical assistance and mentoring support to divisions to co-design activities, implement and monitor progress towards ELF implementation which directly impact on EAs (includes national, provincial and non-government). In particular but not limited to:

·Support EASU by ensuring a process is in place to efficiently coordinate information and ensure data provided to EAs is also disseminated to relevant divisions in MEHRD such as teaching and learning, assets management division.

This includes conducting a survey in the provinces on cost efficient approaches on the delivery of NEAP by EAs.

·        Post-graduate qualifications in education ,public administration or similar.

·        Previous successful experience working in education management at system and school levels in the Solomon Islands or the Pacific.

·        Proven experience in change management, strategic planning, capacity development and sustainability of efforts, particularly the demonstrated ability to share knowledge, mentor, and coach.

·        Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively at a variety of levels.

·        Understanding of the importance of cross cutting development issues such as gender, anticorruption, and disability, particularly in the Pacific region.
