Location: Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Headquarters

Job Purpose:

The Competition Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing football competitions under the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) jurisdiction.

This role ensures the effective delivery of local, national, and international tournaments, focusing on adherence to rules, high-quality event management, and strategic growth of football in the Solomon Islands.

The Competition Manager will collaborate with key stakeholders to enhance competitive football at all levels and provide support to the Competitions Director.

Key Responsibilities:

1.  Competition Planning and Organization

Develop and implement competition calendars for all levels (youth, senior, men’s, women’s, beach soccer, and futsal leagues).

Oversee tournament logistics, including venue selection, scheduling, team registrations, and referee assignments.

Ensure all competitions are compliant with SIFF, OFC, and FIFA regulations.

Coordinate with host venues, local clubs, and other partners to ensure the smooth delivery of events.

2.  Competition Operations

Supervise match day operations, including team management, venue preparation, and match official coordination.

Manage competition-related communications, including fixtures, results, standings, and official correspondence with clubs.

Lead the technical and administrative preparations for all competition-related activities.

3.  Stakeholder Management

Collaborate within internal teams (marketing, finance, referees, technical) to ensure the holistic success of competitions.

Act as the main point of contact for participating teams’ match officials, sponsors, league coordinators, and venue managers.

Foster strong relationships with local football clubs, sponsors, and stakeholders to enhance competition engagement.

4.  Data and Reporting

Monitor and analyze competition performance and provide post-event reports with key insights.

Maintain up-to-date records of competition statistics, results, and disciplinary actions.

Provide regular updates and feedback to the Competition Director on the status of ongoing and upcoming competitions.

5.  Compliance and Governance

Ensure competitions are conducted in accordance with SIFF’s rules and regulations.

Implement policies and procedures to address issues such as player eligibility, disciplinary actions, and match-fixing.

Support in the review and update of competition rules and guidelines annually or as required.

6.  Team Leadership and Development

•    Lead and mentored competition-related staff, league coordinators, volunteers, and match day personnel.

7.  Financial Management

Work with the finance team in collaboration with the Competition Director to prepare budgets for competitions and manage financial resources effectively.

Ensure cost-effective solutions for competition logistics while maintaining quality.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Business Administration, or related field.

3-5 years of experience in sports management, with a focus on football competitions and orevents.

Strong knowledge of football rules, regulations, and competition structures (experience in OFC/FIFA competitions preferred).

Proven project management skills, with the ability to lead events from planning to execution.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and competition management software.

Experience in budget management and financial oversight.
