Job Title: Communication and Media Coordinator (Save the Children Solomon Islands)

Reports To: Director for Program Development and Quality (Save the Children Solomon Islands)

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract

Location: Honiara, Solomon Islands

Job Summary:

The communication will report directly to the Director for Program Development and Quality .the person will work closely with portfolio Leads, Program Managers, Provincial Teams Leaders/Coordinator, Project Officers and PQ Coordinator to ensure timely gathering, collection and write up of contents that will support the country office and programs in terms of visualizing our works with children across the country, according to the communication and advocacy strategy plans and compliances. The communication and Media Coordinator is required to conduct field visits to project sites and help implement ,maintain and improve effective ‘storytelling ‘system.

The role will support teams to carry out activities related to project Communication Plans across the programs .In supporting enhancing Save the Children ‘s Visibility in the country ,this role will be working closely with responsible lead managers and the project team to ensure any communication materials are adhering to both the advocacy and media strategies/policies.

This role will also provide support to both the development and humanitarian programs and quality unit team members to ensure planned Communication activities are implemented or facilitated accordingly.

The key deliverables of Communication and Media Coordinator is to:

•Leads develops Communication /Advocacy Plans for each project under each portfolio that are implementing in the country according to Save the Children’s and Donors standards and compliance.

•Oversees and monitor social media platform (FB page) created by the Save the Children Solomon Islands.

•Compile Case Study Stories on Regular Basis (communication /Media Updates )

•Develop and Support review of IEC materials for visibility compliance (SC and Donors).

•Assist and support facilities advocacy workers at the national and provincial levels.

•Coordinate and Collaborates with the relevant external stakeholder relate to media.

•Assist in conducting Project evaluation, assessment including related program development and Child Protection and safeguarding requirements.

Key Areas of Accountability

Person Specification: Knowledge and Experience.

•Knowledge of communication for development strategies and the local media sector.

•Knowledge and understanding of children and young people and the issues affecting the in the Solomon Islands.

•Experience in collecting and collating data

•Experience in capacity development of staff, particular in relation to training, monitoring, and skills transfer.

•Experience in report writing, storytelling gathering and write- ups.

•Experience in delivering of training.

•At least 2-or 3-years workers experience in community development and program quality, preferably with NGOs.

Qualification:

•Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Program Monitoring and Evaluation or Community Development or Communication /Media or relevant to this specific role.

Desirable knowledge or Experience

•Experience in an NGO’s environments

•Experience working in the Pacific
