On behalf of the Government and people of Solomon Islands, may I sincerely congratulate the Government and people of Papua   New Guinea on your 46th Independence anniversary today 16th September.

Solomon Islands has a deep and long standing relationship with Papua New Guinea.

Papua New Guinea is an important economic partner. Business links continue to grow steadily in Solomon Islands, especially in   the Capital City, Honiara.

Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea continue to embrace a very strong Melanesian bond of friendship.

Our mutual relationship is not only embedded on the bilateral front but also traditional through our cultures and people.

Our people to people connection, trade relations, inter-marriages, languages, cultures and traditions closely knitted our Melanesian  solidarity.

The Government and people of Solomon Islands are forever grateful to the Government and people of Solomon Islands are forever  grateful to the Government and people of Papua New Guinea for their continuous support to the people of Solomon Islands.

Today, as we commemorate PNG’s 46th Independence anniversary, we must continue to acknowledge our almighty God for this  great nation.

It is my hope and prayer that our good Lord will continue to bless our two beloved countries as we endeavour into the future.

May we celebrate this day with pride, Unity, peace and harmony.

May God Bless Papua New Guinea and  May God Bless Solomon Islands.
