National Fisheries Developments Ltd (NFD) is seeking an additional highly motivated, energetic person with proven experience to work in the Fleet Engineering workshop as a Machinist/ Fitter to be based in Noro, Western Province.
NFD is a Solomon Islands domestic fishing company leading domestic fisheries development in the Pacific Region.
The company operations are based in Noro, Western Province, and its headquarters is in Honiara.
An exciting opportunity awaits interested applicants to join a dynamic workforce of 400 full-time staff and crew and nearly 400 part-time workers in Noro.
The scope of responsibilities and accountabilities of the role is as follows;
Carry out general machining including large and small center lathes, milling machines, and radial drills.
Carry out general fitting and assembling of parts machined for fishing vessels, construction equipment, and plant operated by NFD.
Ensure all workshop equipment and resources are efficiently utilized to complete assigned tasks.
Ensure all components and parts are machined or fabricated to specification.
Keep accurate timesheets/job sheets and complete effective recording of hours and materials used.
Beware of the work expectations of the job, including meeting time frames set for job completion.
Ensure all hazard procedures are followed, work practices are safe, and do not endanger yourself or others.
Undertake other duties which are relevant to the position as requested.
Required Experience;
To be able to apply for this role applicants must have at least 5 years of trade experience and a certificate as a machinist, fitter/turner, or in associated fields. Welding skills are an advantage.
You must also hold a valid driver’s license.
Demonstrated Skills and Attributes;
Applicants must be proficient in written and spoken English, flexible with working hours, must be able to work overtime and on weekends as per the manager’s request, work with minimal supervision, is teamwork oriented, and has the potential to further advance their career.
The salary package and attached entitlement will be discussed between NFD and the recommended candidate.
