Contract Name: IN-COUNTRY NICKEL PROCESSING & EXTRACTION CONSULTANT.

The Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification (MMERE) is implementing the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) Policy Redirection broad objective in which it is aimed at cushioning the negative impact of the COVID -19 by focusing Government efforts to maintain fiscal prudence combined with strategic utilisation of resources while simultaneously adjusting to the changing dynamics of the Solomon Islands domestic economy.

One of the DCGA government high priorities has been given as ‘to build a sustainable broad base economy driven by growth oriented mineral development policies affiliated to downstream processing’. One major and immediate priority is to pursue in- country mineral processing with five (5) individual major mining projects of the same mineral commodity within the next three years. More so, upon attaining the main objectives of this consultancy study, a possible conclusion would be to develop a mining policy for Cabinet consideration to stop Direct Shipment of Ore (DSO).

Therefore, the Mines Division through the Ministry of Mines, Energy & Rural Electrification (MMERE), seeks the services of a competent consulting firm or individual(s) to assist the Mines Division carry out a bankable feasibility study regarding In-Country Nickel Processing.
