The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development welcomes applications from Solomon Islands professionals, who are willing to serve in the Education Sector to fill the following position.
Vacancy No: 15/2022
Post Title: Asset Management Advisor
Assignment Duration: 6 Months with the possibility
Division/Unit: Asset Management
Duty Station: Honiara
Assignment Background
The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) is implementing multiple infrastructure upgrade projects across the Solomon Islands. MEHRD utilizes its internal Asset Management Division (AMD) to deliver these projects from cradle to grave (planning to completion) – i.e. the identification of sites, scoping works, tendering (via MEHRD procurement), and project management of said projects through to handover. Donor funding for this programme is allocated through the Education Sector Support Program (ESSP)which is a partnership between the Governments of Solomon Islands, Australia and New Zealand.
To enable AMD to perform its duties as established in the NEAP2022-2026, and annual activities as identified in MEHRDs Annual Work Plan (AWP); it is proposed that a short-term advisor (STA) is employed to increase the technical capacity of AMD, specifically in the areas of engineering and project management.
The STA will be engaged initially for six (6) months, with the option of a mutually agreed extension. It is expected that the STA will work within the AMD at its office at Tongs Building, Hibiscus Avenue, Honiara.
This position will work closely with AMD, MEHRD, Donors and other stakeholders to deliver quality infrastructure projects to the education sector. This will require the STA to develop working relationships with contractors, consultants, suppliers, advisors and MEHRD staff. The STA will be responsible for the delivery of multiple infrastructure projects and must therefore be well versed in project management techniques within the Solomon Islands context. The STA will report directly to the Manager AMD.
