MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE & LIVESTOCK 43RD INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSSARY GREETING 2021

To: The Governor General His Excellency Sir David Vunagi and Lady Vunagi; the Hon. Prime Minister Manasseh Damukana Sogavare MP, and Madam Sogavare; the speaker of the National Parliament, Chief Justice, Hon. Ministers of the Crown, Leaders of the Opposition and Independent Group, Members of Parliament, Provincial Premiers and your members, the Honiara City Mayor and your councillors; Heads of resident Diplomatic Missions; Our Development partners and stakeholders; Private Sectors; and None-Government Organizations; and our good rural and urban farmers with their families, and the people of Solomon Islands.

We sent to you all our warmest greetings as we celebrate our beloved country’s 43rd Independence Anniversary. Today we stand as one people of our many islands to remember the birth of our nation 43 years ago. On this day of 7th July 1978, 43 years ago we pledged to unite together and build a strong nation

On this days we were given our freedom to govern ourselves and determine our own destiny. Let us keep this freedom closer to our hearts and let us keep the fighting spirits of our forefathers who handed us a country that is abundantly filled with freedom to live and celebrate life to its fullness.

Our nation is going through tough times due to the corona virus pandemic hat is causing death and starvation around the globe .Many of us are now without jobs due to the impacts of this COVID-19 and there is much fear of starvation but know that our food and livelihood is secured in the vast land we own .Our sustenance lies on the natural resource our country is blessed with.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock believers that we can make it through these tough times we go back and cultivate our land .The richness of our land and sea resources is our food and livelihood assurance and security .Let us go back before and toil the land .

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livelihood is committed to support the growth of economy through partnership with you and this is a commitment that we can only deliver with your support and dedication. Let us be more determined than ever before to work harder.

Undertaking farming is a worthy profession as it offers a secured future if you chose that path and we are here to support you secure that future for you and your children.

We are committed to nature agriculture entrepreneurs who will change the way we do agriculture undertaking in this country of ours by investing in commercial agriculture and livestock development because by this we can create more jobs, harness trade and market opportunities ,improve the lives of our people and build a stronger economy than it is today.

Therefore fellow Solomon Islanders as you celebrate this days, remember to reflect and celebrate with pride the great gift of our independence ,our freedom and continue to thank God for the gift of life we have every day .

Our national anthem reflects the choice we made as a nation to serve the living God and believe in His sacrificed Son Jesus Christ .Let us therefore protect our faith in our God with all our Might.
