Communications Coordinator

 The Education Sector Support Program is seeking suitable and highly motivated candidates for the Communications Coordinator position.

This position will be a short-term role working two days a week up to 30 June 2023 with key responsibility to improve the communications and public diplomacy products to promote the partnership between Solomon Islands, Australia and New Zealand.

 The role

 Reporting to the ESSP Team Leader, the Communications Coordinator will assist the ESSP Program Management Team (PMT) to ensure:

  •   The promotion of the partnership between Solomon Islands, Australia and New Zealand by actively assisting in identifying public diploma opportunities in close collaboration with MEHRD, Australian High Commission, and the New Zealand High Commission
  •   All public diplomacy activities highlight the support to addressing cross-cutting issues such as gender equality, disability and social inclusion
  •   All public diplomacy materials align to the ESSP Public Diplomacy Framework and adhere to MEHRD / MFAT / DFAT public diplomacy and branding guidelines, and child protection guidelines particularly with the use of photos of children in any public communications materials.

If you have any of the following skills and experience but not limited to, we would like to hear from you:

  •  Tertiary qualification in communications/media studies or a related social science discipline or equivalent experience.
  •  3–5 years relevant experience in communications/media or a related social science.
  •  Demonstrated experience working in media and/or communications, or on education or development programs.
  •  Proven track record in writing a variety of public diplomacy materials, proofreading and effective communications with an attention to detail.
  •  Experience in social media management, especially Facebook
  •   Experience in or knowledge of effective graphic design, brand adherence, videography, photography, and digital communications.
  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  •  Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-cultural and multi-location team with a range of stakeholders.
  •  Ability to converse in Pidgin English would bean advantage.
