PD Facilitators

Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD) started the implementation

of the five-year System Transformation Program in partnership with UNICEF and Global Partnership

for Education (GPE)to deliver context-specific and need-based effective place-based training and support to teachers in PPY, primary, and junior secondary grades, from2026 to the end of 2028. The PD program and its implementation support the new NEAP (2022-2026), Partnership Compact (2023-2027), Education Act (2023), and MEHRD’s overarching goal of improving the quality of education for all children.

Professional Development (PD) Facilitators will support implementation of the new PD program.

Facilitators will work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to strengthen knowledge and practice, to support the implementation of the Solomon Islands Curriculum, priority subjects identified by MEHRD, and areas of teaching practice such as Formative Assessment and Inclusive Education.  Facilitators will monitor progress and the impact of PD on teaching and learning.

Engagement will occur with key stakeholders, including EPs and school communities.

Successful candidates will have:

  • At least 10 years’ experience working in the Solomon Islands education system as a teacher in pre-primary, primary, and Junior Secondary education.
  • Experience in a leadership, coaching, or mentoring role in education
  • A teaching or education qualification – minimum Diploma in Teaching
  • Experience using evidence to improve performance
  • Be adaptable to changing conditions and contexts across provinces
  • Strong time management and organisation skills; able to meet demanding work schedules
  • Be able to engage successfully with a variety of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to actively problem solve to achieve better results
  • The ability to analyze and make sense of assessment information
  • Strong knowledge of Solomon Islands national curriculum(PPY to Year 9)
  • Strong facilitation skills, and ability to travel and work in remote schools
  • The capacity to reflect on your performance and make improvements
  • Values and principles aligned to MEHRD’s education vision
