Overview of Position
The SIFF National Academy Physiotherapist (NAPH) involves providing specialized care to athletes at a high level, ensuring their physical well-being and optimizing their performance.
This position typically requires advanced skills in sports medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement.
2 x positions are open for post of SIFF National Academy Physiotherapist part-time.
Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the NAPH shall include the following:
Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conduct thorough assessments of athletes to diagnose injuries, physical conditions, and performance issues.
Utilize various diagnostic tools and techniques, including physical examinations, functional assessments, and sometimes imaging results.
Treatment and Rehabilitation:
Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation programs to facilitate recovery from injuries and improve physical performance.
Administer manual therapy, exercise therapy, and other physiotherapy techniques as part of the treatment plan.
Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans based on athlete’s recovery and performance metrics.
Injury Prevention and Management:
Design and deliver injury prevention programs tailored to the specific needs of athletes and sports activities.
Provide education on proper techniques, warm-up routines, and strength conditioning to minimize the risk of injuries.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with coaches, medical staff, and strength and conditioning experts to integrate physiotherapy into overall training programs.
Communicate effectively with athletes about their injuries, treatment options, and rehabilitation processes.
Emergency Care:
Provide immediate first aid and emergency treatment for injuries sustained during training or competition.
Ensure that all emergency protocols and procedures are followed in case of acute injuries or medical situations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, treatments, progress notes, and injury histories.
Prepare reports and provide updates on athlete progress to relevant stakeholders, including coaches and management.
Education and Training:
Educate athletes and staff on injury prevention, rehabilitation exercises, and best practices for physical health.
Stay current with the latest research and advancements in sports physiotherapy and incorporate new techniques into practice.
Facility Management:
Ensure that physiotherapy equipment and facilities are well-maintained and meet health and safety standards.
Oversee the proper use of physiotherapy tools and resources.
Daily Tasks and Duties:
The daily tasks and duties include the following:
Conduct assessment of athletes and diagnosing injuries as they arise
Executing and monitoring treatment regimes for athletes
Keeping a record of injuries and treatments on athletes
Supervising all training sessions to ensure that they are conducted in a safe manner that minimizes risk of injury to athletes
Requesting medical consumables for use by the academy programme such as physio tapes and other materials
Qualifications
The required qualifications for this position are:
At least a Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized tertiary institution
At least two (2) experience in working as a sports physiotherapist
Additionally, the applicant must either present prior training in computing or be able to demonstrate intermediate computer proficiency.
The applicant must not chew betel nut, smoke or consume alcohol.
This position requires physical work and therefore we will seek a candidate that is fit/healthy.
The applicant will be required to complete FIFA Safeguard training if successful.
