The Ministry of Women, Youth, Children, and Family Affairs (MWYCFA) is seeking to recruit a qualified individual for the position of Women, Peace, and Security National Action Plan (WPS NAP) Consultant within the Women’s Development Division, based in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
The Consultant will play a key role in supporting their view of the WPS NAP within the Women’s Development Division.
This role requires strong communication, written, and consultation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with the Director of the Women’s Development Division, MWYCFA staff, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will ensure that identified gaps are incorporated into the revised WPS NAP, aligning with Solomon Islands Government peace and security frameworks and the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR)1325.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must be citizens of the Solomon Islands and meet the following requirements:
Education: A minimum of a tertiary qualification in gender studies, sociology, development, public policy, or a related field.
Experience: At least five years of experience in gender equality advocacy, with a focus on women, peace, and security.
Policy Knowledge: Familiarity with international and national policy frameworks related to UNSCR 1325, CEDAW, Gender Equality and Women’s Development (GEWD), and Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW).
Public Sector Experience: Experience working with the Solomon Islands public sector, particularly in policy development.
Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, consultation, and negotiation skills.
Work Ethic: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Security Awareness: Understanding of emerging security issues, such as climate change impacts, digital safety, and economic security for women.
