JOB TITLE: NATIONAL BIODIVERSITY STRATEGIES ACTION PLAN (NBSAP) OFFICER
VACANCY SUMMARY
The NBSAP Officer will be responsible for coordinating the NBSAP review and development under the Global Biodiversity Framework Early Action Support (GBF-EAS) Project.
This project was designed to support countries to meet the new biodiversity targets under the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Targets.
It focuses on four components: alignment with national biodiversity strategies and action plans, national monitoring systems, policy and institutional coherence, and biodiversity finance.
The NBSAP Officer will be responsible for overseeing implementation of activities outlined under this GBF-EAS project for Solomon Islands.
For the NBSAP national target alignment and drafting of the revised NBSAP, the NBSAP Officer will be assisted by a national technical consultant hired by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation (FAO).
This position is required to undertake but not limited to the following duties:
Oversee the implementation of NBSAP EAS Project implementation under the supervision of Director Environment & Conservation Division (ECD), and
Work closely with the ECD counterparts and the FAO national consultant to plan meetings, consultation and pull together information for the national target setting & NBSAP production.
Assist in coordinating & conducting meetings for NBSAP Committee, National Stakeholders and wider consultations, including secretarial work, project documentation, etc.
Carry out any other task/duties as assigned/required by the Director ECD from time to time.
The Officer will also be assisting Environment &Conservation Division (ECD) on other relevant responsibilities to the NBSAP as advised by the Director ECD.
The incumbent of this position shall be assessed against the following key deliverables:
Oversee NBSAP GBF-EAS Project smooth & timely implementation.
NBSAP GBF-EAS Project work plans and activities implemented.
NBSAP Committee Meetings, National Stakeholders Workshops conducted and consultations undertaken.
Financial reports prepared and produced for GBF-EAS project.
Revised NBSAP document produced for Solomon Islands and NBSAP national target setting conducted and produced for Solomon Islands.
Qualification and Experience
A suitable person with Higher Qualifications in Environment or related discipline or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, trainings or professional accreditation.
Capabilities
Demonstrate Leadership capabilities, Sound communication& Presentation skills. Report writing and record keepings and Financial management knowledge and demonstrate self-motivation and team player.
