We send to you all our warmest greetings as we celebrate our beloved country’s 46th Independence Anniversary. Today we stand as one people of our many islands to remember the birth of our nation 46 years ago. On the day of 7th July 1978, 46 years ago we pledged to unite together and build a strong nation.

On that day we were given the freedom to govern ourselves and determine our own destiny.

Let us keep this freedom closer to our hearts and let us keep this freedom closer to our hearts and let us keep the fighting spirit of our forefathers who handed us a country that is abundantly filled with freedom to live and celebrate life to its fullness.

Our nation is going through tough times due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic that is causing death and starvation but know that our food and livelihood is secured in the vast land we own.

Our sustenance lies on the natural resources our country is blessed with.

And we are committed to supporting the growth of our economy through partnership with you and this is a commitment that we can only deliver with your support and dedication.

Let us be more determined than ever before to work harder.

This year, the Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock is embarking on implementing the priority policies of the Government of National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) to promote the long-term sustainability of agriculture development through building and shaping a sustainable and stable agriculture whole value chain approach.

This includes nurturing our agriculture entrepreneurs who will change the way we do business in agriculture in this country of ours by investing in commercial agriculture and livestock development because by this we can create more jobs, harness trade and market opportunities, improve the lives of our people and build a stronger economy than it is today.

As we celebrate our political independence, we are called to make agriculture become everyone’s business and use it as the building block to propel the economic growth of the Solomon Islands.

Let us celebrate our past and present successes and remind ourselves of the importance of food access and healthy nutrition.

No nation will survive without Agriculture therefore, the46th anniversary is a time for all of us to reflect on our contributions and chart an innovative and dynamic pathway that we must create, build and shape.

Together we must build our agriculture sector to build a resilient and sustainable economy for our beloved Solomon Islands.

Congratulations and Happy 46th Independence Anniversary Celebrations, Solomon Islands. My future brings joy, Peace, Progress and Prosperity through a vibrant and strong agricultural economy.

God bless our beloved Happy Isles, Solomon Islands from Shore to shore.
