Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the following vacant positions in the Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock.

The Solomon Island Agriculture and Rural Transformation (SIART) is a World Bank funded project under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL).

The World Bank finances the Project through a Grant and a Credit facility.

The objective of SIART is to increase agricultural production and improve market access in selected value chains in 3 Project Provinces (Guadalcanal, Malaita and Makira/Ulawa), and in case of an Eligible Crisis or Emergency, respond promptly and effectively to.

The SIART Project is structured with 4 components:

Component 1.  Agribusiness and Infrastructure Investments

Component 2.  Institutional Capacity Development

Component 3.  Project Management

Component 4.  Contingent Emergency Response Component

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) through its Project Management Unit (PMU), is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the SIART Project.

The PMU will include resources to deliver SIART services activities, including work planning, reporting, budgeting and financial management, procurement, monitoring and evaluation, safeguards, capacity building and communication and provides progress reports, and financial reporting, in accordance with both Solomon Islands Government and World Bank requirements.

The PMU is seeking expression of interests from qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions:

Bachelor degree in Accounting or Financial Management or Diploma in Finance with more than 5 years of experience

Procurement Assistant

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., engineering, procurement, law, finance, business administration, economics) or in lieu of a bachelor’s degree another relevant tertiary qualification as well as other relevant practical experience (minimum 3 years of recent and relevant procurement experience).

Institutional Development Officer

PMU

Masters Degree in Rural Development / Social Science / Sociology / etc., with 7 years of work experiences in Producer Organisation (PO) establishment

At least 5 years of project implementation experience on the PO formation and strengthening processes

At least 2-3 years of work experience in management of POs

ICO14

Social Safeguards Officer

PMU

A bachelor’s degree in social science, planning, anthropology or similar relevant discipline.

At least 3 years of relevant experience in community consultations, impact assessment, data collection and analysis, and report writing at the policy level.

Demonstrated ability in effective project management is essential, including expertise in work planning, ability to work independently and in a team; effective at providing advice and output on time; and ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Knowledge and experience in the agriculture and livestock sector is an advantage.
