Solomon Airlines Ltd is looking for a suitably qualified and interested person with a desire to bring positive changes to fill the vacant position at our Operations Control Centre.

ROLE &PURPOSE

DEPARTMENT: Ground Operations

CLASSIFICATION/GRADE: Level TBC

POSITION TITLE: OCC Officer

SECTION:

RESPONSIBLE TO: OCC Coordinator

LOCATION: Henderson

INDIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Reservations Control Officer

The OCC Officer is to ensure that the daily flight operations of the Airline is safe, legally compliant, customer friendly, efficient and effective in every way possible.

This is best accomplished by ensuring the first decision in any situation is the best possible decision for all stakeholders.

The operations control center is responsible for Schedule Management, Flight Planning, Crew Management, Intercept potential disruptions, and ensuring the best utilization of resources.

1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) As a dispatcher by liaising with relevant parties to ensure requirements are met before, during, and after each flight.
2) Remain informed of all factors that contribute to the daily operations of the airline, which include but are not limited to;
3) Local Ground Services Activity
4) Local, en route, and destination city, NOTAMS, (Notice to Airman regarding issues along their planned route or at their intended destination which may affect the safety of their flight).

Aircraft Scheduling
Flight Deck and Cabin Crew Scheduling
Create and distribute Daily Flight Movement (DFM)
5) Monitor actual operation according to DFM and perform changes needed based on operational requirements.
6) Proactively manage the impact of unplanned schedule changes.
7) Update on Time Performance (OTP)
8) Track aircraft movements as well as Pilot duty and flight hours.
9) NGen maintenance – daily flight data processing and validation.
10) Ensure currency on required airborne and on-ground emergency training
11) Carry out and other duties as directed by the OCC Coordinator.
12) Organise accommodation, Duty Travel allowances, and transport for Crew(International and Domestic)
13) Prepare and submit General Declarations for International flights to relevant government/border agencies.
14) Apply and facilitate crew Advance passport processing (APP) for all international flight crew and relevant duty staff.
15) Together with HR & Flight operations, facilitate Electronic Travel Authority (ETAs) or crew Travel authority for international crew.
16) Provide logistics and operational support for flights, as directed by the manager of Grounds Operations.
17) Conduct Flight watch and Flight following for all IE aircraft.
18) Ensuring flight Operations are administered safely and securely within compliance with the flight and duty time requirements.
19) Supporting the OCC Coordinator’s final decision regarding how to resolve and eliminate the IROPs
20) Initiating an appropriate Emergency response to airborne or ground incidents and/or emergencies. This includes but is not limited to, activating the alarm notification process as stated in the Solomon Airlines EmergenceResponse Plan (ERP) and providing information to emergency services about onboard dangerous goods as a way to assist emergency services that respond to an incident or serious incident.

2. PERSON SPECIFICATION

Individuals must possess the following;

1) Diploma in either aeronautics, meteorology, aviation management, engineering, mathematics or any related field.
2) Active in at least one of the following vocational areas within the past five (5) years.
Aircraft Pilot
Aircraft dispatcher
Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
Meteorologist
Air Traffic Control

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, Computer literate,    able to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines, attention to detail, able  to work on weekends, great customer service skills and confidence and work effectively as a team.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel, possess a passion to consistently performing all duties in a confident & professional manner, good communication skills, excellent customer care attitude and reliable.
